18 Aug 2014 Visitors to Mallorca from the U.S., Canada and the European Union only need a valid passport to enter the island. However, if you're planning on staying for more than three months and you are not an E.U. citizen, you'll need a visa before your departure for Mallorca The busiest times for Mallorca are during July and August; however, during the off-season in June, September and October, there are considerably fewer crowds, and it is still warm enough to swim and enjoy the beach. Mallorca's airport is located in the largest city on the island, Palma de Mallorca. The city is located on the southern end of the island and accepts flights from all over Europe on daily basis. Many major air hubs in Europe have direct flights to Palma de Mallorca, including London, Frankfurt, Paris and Madrid. Numerous ferry companies operate between Spain's east coast and Mallorca. The major ferry hubs on the mainland are in Valencia, which is about 90 miles from Mallorca, and Barcelona, about 130 miles away. Trips can take between three and eight hours, depending on the speed of the ferry boat. Car ferry service is available for those who want to drive on Mallorca. ########################## Son Real is a unique site in the island’s pre-history and it is the most well-known necropolis from the Talaiotic culture, the indigenous, pre-Roman Balearic people who occupied the area around 850-500 BC. Our aim is to excavate, record and better understand the development of Trellech that was once the largest settlement in medieval Wales. We believe that archaeology should be educational, open to everyone regardless of age or ability and most importantly, enjoyable. All our educational activities are free and are funded through individual donations, our commerical activities like experience days and through our ebay shop Archaeological Historical. ########################## Between 2000 and 2004 the Society organised a series of research activities at the site of Heronbridge under the direction of David Mason. The excavations not only confirmed the line of the Roman road (Watling Street) and of the settlement alongside it, but also the existence of an early medieval fortification and of a cemetery possibly associated with the Battle of Chester in 616. These discoveries provide the background for the investigation of the surrounding area.
